Barn Raising

Barn Raising
At Pennypincher Barn Company we recognized that you are building more than four walls and a roof, you are building a dream.  We do our best to suggest ways to help you do that, maintain your budget and have fun along the way.

Life is hectic today and it's become rare to take the time to work together creating something as beautiful and useful as an old-fashioned barn or cabin.  Years ago barn building was a community event.  It was chance for neighbors, friends and family to join together for a few days of hard work, good food and camaraderie.  Their shared effort produced a legacy that outlasted their own lives.  Today, you can bring that pioneer spirit back to life by a hosting an old-fashioned barn raising with your family and friends.

Your first reaction is likely, "I could never do something like that!"  We say "Why not?"  You don't have to be a master craftsman to help put together your barn or cabin package.  Barn raising mostly consists of carrying, marking, measuring, sawing and nailing boards.  The rest is knowing how to put it all together.

If you have a moderate amount of carpentry or barn building experience it should be relatively easy.   We highly recommend enlisting the assistantance of an experienced barn raiser.  Under the direction of an experienced barn raiser, the frames of bantam sized barns are often assembled in a week or less, leaving only the final detailing, such as shingle roofing, door installation and cedar batten trim.

With thougthful preparation and planning, your barn raising will leave you with a greater sense of accomplishment, reduce your labor costs, and build a lasting legacy for your family.  Barn raising is one of those once in a lifetime family experiences that no one will ever forget.
