Pennypincher’s is now offering cabin plans or barn plans only or plans and accessories packages along with our building kit packages. Below is some information to help you decide which option would work best for you.
Plans Only:
If you see a photo on our website than mostly likely that building is available as a plan. Buying just the plan is a great way to get started on your project. If you don’t have a lot of building permit requirements in your area than you might not even need any modifications. If you find out later that you do need personalization for your site we can go back and revise your building for a moderate drafting fee.
Very few plan companies selling plans online are like ours. The designer of our buildings has 40 plus years experience in design and construction. We also offer the addition of personalization and structural engineering for your plans based on your site needs.
The plan only is great for the person who is looking to “shop” for a builder. We can quote you the plans only and the kit, even if you don’t purchase one, so that you have a cost base for shopping your project. If you purchase a plan only and come back later and decide to purchase a kit we will give you a discount for your prior purchase. Plans only are also great for the builder or homeowner who wants to use up excess materials from other projects or has specific desires for finish like siding and trim. If you are a contractor the plan only gets your customer the exclusive design of our buildings without the expensive of hiring an architect.
Maybe you are still in the dreaming stage and that is ok too. Dreams can become reality start small with the plan and dream away.
Plans plus Accessories:
One of the most unique things about Pennypincher buildings is our accessories items. Our cupolas, dormers, wood doors and windows are hand milled and made to order for your buildings. These items are not easy to recreate even by a very skilled builder. If you are working with a builder who is supplying your materials package he may prefer to get the materials for you but you can still get the look of one of our buildings.
Accessories Only:
If you are building from another plan or remodeling an existing structure you can still dress up your building with our accessories. We can personalize any of our accessory items for your plan or remodel. All of our wood accessories from cupolas to dormers to doors & windows can be made for any building.
Building Kit:
I’m often asked what the advantage of purchasing a kit is. With our kits you have the option of getting a package with local lumber common to your area delivered not shipped or Pacific Northwest lumber shipped from Washington. With a kit we do a lot more of the work. We prepare the materials list and we organize the materials for the delivery. We provide construction consulting during your build. One of the most common questions I get is whether or not it’s more affordable to purchase the materials on your own. We work with specific suppliers who get us quality and affordable materials. Our cost per square foot is often considerably lower than you would get walking in the lumber yard with your own set of plans. As I mentioned above in plans only, if you have access to recycled or super low cost materials than a kit might not be for you but our kits are super affordable for the person starting a project from scratch or someone who doesn’t have the time it takes to put together a package.
When upgrading to a Pacific Northwest cabin or barn package you get the superior quality that only comes from northwest lumber mills. Depending on where you live in the country it is very possible to get a more affordable and higher quality lumber package shipped from us than you can get on your own locally.
